Flower Mountains and Snoopy vibes
Sneakers, a new tote, and Apple TV.
Two days ago, I ran my second ever official half-marathon and I'm still walking funny. My sister and I decided to run the full NYC marathon in November of this year so we figured a nice half would be a good way to test our progress. She killed it, but I am sooo not ready.
Also, if you're a photographer looking for a daily challenge I made (Claude made) a web app! I'm calling it Colorsnap.app and it's a daily color hunt game. Every morning it suggests a new color for you to find throughout your day. I'm still fixing bugs here and there but the main gist of it is there if you want to challenge yourself. Anyway, here's Cool Supply.

👟 Flower Mountain Yamabushi Uni
I'm far from a sneakerhead, but I do a enjoy a nice shoe every once in a while. Lately, I've been obsessing over the Yamabushi Uni sneakers from Flower Mountain. Unfortunately, they're very hard to get here in the states unless you're willing to pay a pretty high markup. They come in a bunch of wacky colors that also look amazing, but it's the light grey/beige color way that has my heart (shocker).

What really intrigued me with these is that you don't really need to tie the laces. They feed through cleverly placed loops and terminate at the back of the heel. It looks like you can just pull on the back to tighten them. I'll have to wait until I find a way to try these out in person though before I convince myself to drop so much money. I'm fairly certain the prices for these sneakers are roughly around $160 USD if you were to get them in Japan but over on this side of the Pacific they're going for around $300 USD. I'll wait.
👜 Alex Mill the Perfect Weekday Tote
I've been a backpackboi for almost all my life but lately I've been on the search for something that won't make me look like a middle schooler. I also don't want some super premium leather briefcase or anything similar because that's just not how I need to dress for work. I need something that's easy to carry on my morning commute, can hold everything I need, and bonus points if it looks good doing it. So far, this tote from the brand Alex Mill has been getting the job done. A week or two ago, my fiancee Jess fell in love with the royal blue color of this bag and wanted to get one to use for work. So we took a trip to the Soho to pick one up for her. Once there, I too caught the bug. Unfortunately, it was a pretty expensive bug. But I don't regret it. I plan on running this tote into the ground.

I thought the buttons along the top were just for show, but turns out you can change the shape of the bag and how it closes by snapping them together. It also has a zippered pocket, notebook sleeve, and a second set of handles for when you need to carry it sling style. It's made of canvas that I fully intend to wax at the first opportunity and I even used it for one-bag travel on a recent work trip to SXSW. Granted, I wouldn't recommend it and I wouldn't do it again. Once it gets overstuffed it's just a hassle to carry around, but the point is that it held up!
🐾 Snoopy on Apple TV
One thing I've been trying to be more mindful of is taking note of technology that delights me. I remember when tech meant GameBoys, fun apps, and weird websites. Lately, it feels all doom and gloom. That sense of wonder is few and far between. Maybe because all of the giant tech companies are speedrunning the end of times. I know there are still people like me who grew up loving tech and just want to make cool things, so I want to highlight them when I get a chance. Case in point: whoever works on the Snoopy screensaver in the Apple TV.

Apple has its own fair share of problems, but somewhere in the Apple TV division is someone that just wants me to smile every time I see Snoopy and it's working. If you haven't seen it yet, Apple TV has a dedicated Snoopy screensaver where there's always something funny or clever happening. It uses the location data to be whimsical and not creepy. If it's snowing outside, Snoopy will build a snowman on my TV. If it's windy outside, Woodstock gets blown off screen. Sometimes I just don't click on anything for a few minutes just to see what the screensaver will be. It's the closest thing I can get to my Saturday morning cartoons and I highly recommend it.
