Browser-based Games and Good Coffee
Plus, some tiny scissors from my favorite design duo!
After a week off I'm back with a vengeance! Well, not really. I'm just back to my regular-ish schedule. I think it'll be easier to get back in this groove now because it's about to go up to 110°F (43°C) here in NYC this week, so I think I'll be spending plenty of time cuddled up next to my AC looking at cool sh*t online.

🎮 Messenger
At the beginning of this year, one of my goals was to find time to play more video games. LOL. Yeah, that hasn't been working out. I have played a few games here and there but I haven't finished or even made any significant progress in any of them. Though to be fair, my fiancee and I finally finished It Takes Two after like 2 years so that's something. Finding dedicated couch time has been hard to come by. Especially in the last month or two with the NBA playoffs and now the World Cup. Sportsball has taken over. But I still love the comfy feeling that a good game can give me. That's where Messenger comes in.

It's a classic chill deliver-a-thing kind of game, but with a beautiful art style reminiscent of Sable. Plus, it has a beautiful soundtrack that I sometimes just leave playing in the background while I do other things. My life hack has been to just leave it open in the browser and play for a few minutes at a time throughout the day. It's not a very long game, so I'm sure I'll finish it soon, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far.
✂️ Little Scissors
CW&T is my favorite design duo, based right here in Brooklyn. I've written about them in the past because basically everything they make is beautiful and super practical. This time, they're back with little scissors and they're exactly what they claim to be: just cute tiny scissors. They have titanium handles and VG-10 blades which means they aren't breaking anytime soon.

They're designed to fold down into an even more compact shape that keeps the blades safely tucked away, so you really could make them part of your EDC. I probably won't be splurging on these since I usually have a Leatherman with built-in scissors within arm's reach, but I'm always happy when things like this pop into existence so that I can drool over them.
☕ Coffee subscriptions
If there’s one thing you take away from this issue, it’s this: please, please invest in good coffee. You deserve it. I know it’s a cliché, but there are too many people starting their days with a burnt cup of grocery store-brand coffee. It’s the difference between waking up with the intention of enjoying your morning and waking up just to start the day. I’m not a coffee expert, but I was told that the best coffee beans are those that have been roasted recently. I don’t know how to gauge that from a grocery store, so I just get my coffee from a popular local roaster.

I have a subscription to Partners Coffee here in Brooklyn, but you can pick whoever you want. Actually, the closer it is to your location, the better. Starting each day with an honest-to-God good cup of coffee really sets the tone. There are many things in life that are just a waste of money and totally not worth it. I don’t believe coffee is one of them. Treat yourself every morning.
✱The link below is my referral link so if you buy coffee from them I think we both get $8 off? I'm not sure I've never used it before. But figured I'd give it a try if you're interested!✱
