Artemis II and the God of groceries

We're launching humans into space again!

Bags, clocks, and space. Classic.

Did you know that in ancient Greek mythology Artemis is the twin sister of Apollo? I didn't, but I do now because I misspelled Artemis every time I wrote it in this issue. Which means I ended up typing it into Google a bunch to get the correct spelling. Which means I naturally ended up reading a lot about Artemis instead of writing this issue. I love mythology. Anyway, here's Cool Supply.

I'm always intrigued by products that play with time. Time is one of those aspects of existence that I have a hard time wrapping my head around, so I appreciate it when someone tries to find a different way to measure it. Two such products that come to mind are the Time Since Launch and the Solid State Watch from CW&T, both of which represent how you can't stop time once it starts. The latest product that has my attention though is a clock from a company called Balmuda. It doesn't make as much of a conceptual statement as the ones I just mentioned, but it's a modern take on a classic clock and I'm here for it.

First, it's gorgeous. A block of aluminum will never not look dope. But it has all the modern fixings I would want from something like this. It has USB-C charging, an alarm with built-in speakers, and a way to track a second time zone when you're traveling. The feature that piqued my interest is something they're calling "Light Hour." It is a clever way of expressing the hourly chime from old clocks using small lights around the watch face. Every hour the light "swings" back and forth just like an old pendulum. It's that kind of whimsical attention to detail that I wish we had more of in our tech.

👩‍🚀 Everyday Astronaut Artemis II mission

Maybe it's because most of us have already blacked out anything that has to do with the government or maybe there is just always so much happening that good things have a hard time cutting through the noise, but for some reason the Artemis II mission isn't getting the amount of excitement that it deserves. The Artemis II mission launches tomorrow (April 1) and it's going to be the furthest humans have ever gone from Earth. Ever!

The Artemis II mission is doing a lunar flyby so it won't be landing on the Moon. It'll slingshot around the moon and make its way back to Earth but in that time it will be the furthest we have ever traveled away from our pale blue dot. The entire mission is just insane so if you want to learn more Everyday Astronaut has a great video quickly explaining the key points. Amaze amaze amaze.

For the last few years, I've been one of the lucky people that happen to have a car while living in NYC. It's not that you need a car to live here, but it makes certain things so much easier to do. Like grocery shopping. I used to just pull up to Costco after work, throw everything in the trunk, and bring it all home. Costco is a warehouse that sells food in bulk, so you don't just buy one carton of milk, you buy six. You don't buy a small seaweed snack, you buy 24. Everything is large and bulky and they don't bag anything at checkout. It's a lot. And now I don't have a car so I assumed I'd probably have to just Uber it home. Thankfully, Costco thought of this and sells this CleverMade Foldable Tote bag on wheels. They created the problem and sold me the solution.

From what I can tell, this seems to be a dupe of the Hulken Rolling Tote Bag. But it's a third of the price and will just be carrying my eggs and butter so who cares. My fiancee and I immediately picked one up in silver and were mind blown by how easy it was to get our food home. I've seen people use those giant carts but they always look so cumbersome and we don't have space for something so large in our apartment. This tote is perfect because once empty, I just folded it down and stuck it behind a shelf. Out of sight until it's needed again.
